Environmental Impact Study of the project of A51 Milan Eastern Ring Road: redevelopment of Cascina Gobba junction

PROJECT DESCRIPTION

The project consists in the upgrading of junction of Cascina Gobba - 1st Section along the ring road A51 (ring road east of Milan), along the main highway for about 1.5 km. The project aimed to improve the viability at the junction of Cascina Gobba, main nodal point for the traffic flow north-south with the entry-exit from Milan and the interchange with the area to the east of Milan through SP11.

The interventions included the upgrading of existing roads, new ramps to the bypass and two works on the viaduct.

PROJECT CHARACTERISTICS

The following services have been carried out: Urban Planning and Landscape; Compatibility with the system constraints; Condition of the premises; Description of the project; Work-context relation: analysis of the structure of the landscape - analysis of the conditions; landscape and environment Inclusion work; design of noise barriers; landscape project of the viaduct and the ramps.

The project of landscaping works has been designed with the objective of strengthening the role of territorial connection of the Provincial Ecological Network elements and rehabilitate the areas related to the infrastructure, such as areas of relevance and ancillary spaces to secondary roads. Green interventions near minor streams were designed in order to restore suitable habitats for many species and aquaculture and to ensure continuity between the elements of biological connection in the local context.
