The VDP was founded in 1991 by a group of engineers with a wide experience in the environmental sector.
The managers of the company identified the environmental sciences and the sensitivity towards the protection and preservation of the environment as the keystone for the development of the engineering sector. Following this vision they focused towards sustainable development research and innovation.
Since then, VDP has always acted as a partner for engineering support for all environmental aspects, from the very first development of regulations in this field. The first activities were developed in relation to specific needs of institutions or infrastructure managers, oriented mainly to the field of environmental pollution or to public procurement activities where environmental studies or landscaping studies were required.
With the development of the regulatory framework (in particular the rules on Environmental Impact Assessment in Italy in 1988) VDP gained an outstanding experience in the development of studies related to the most important Italian infrastructures (such as the High Speed Railway Lines, the Strait of Messina, the development of the Highway network, etc …), playing also a role as responsible for development of methodologies.
Over the years, thanks to the acquisition of highly competitive methodologies and technologies, the company has gained a great experience in the field of pre-feasibility studies and environmental planning, environmental impact studies, environmental monitoring, remediation plans, mitigation projects with particular reference to infrastructure sector.
