Environmental impact study and maritime and road traffic study regarding the development project of Marsamxett Bay on the island of Malta
PROJECT CHARACTERISTICS
Considering the components and the environmental factors involved in the project, VDP focused mainly on:
- Aspects related to marine biology;
- Natural features;
- Landscape elements;
- Hydro-geomorphological characteristics;
- Maritime aspects;
- Pollution conditions.
A vehicular traffic study was also conducted in order to determine which elements could be considered as input data for the project regarding the new bay road. These data are essential in establishing the dimensions and layout of the road design.
For what regards the study concerning the maritime traffic, an evaluation was designed to identify the expected number and type of ships that might be present in the bay after the development project of Marsamxett Bay.
