Studies for the reorganization of the NTN in Val di Isarco by BBT connection
PROJECT DESCRIPTION
The interventions of the project arise from a functional need to ensure the safe connection and the strengthening of the power supply of the railway line along the Brenner axis (Brenner Basis Tunnel) that the society Italian Railway Net s.p.A has developed in the within of the Strategic Infrastructural Works for the Country.
The planned works, crossing 19 municipalities, extend from north to south of the Autonomous Province of Bolzano, along Val d’Isarco, between Campo di Trens and Bolzano, and are divided mainly into works of construction of new power stations, overhead power lines, underground power lines, modifications to existing stations and demolitions of existing overhead power lines.
The project is characterized by the following categories of works:
• new designs: overhead power lines;
• new designs: underground cables;
• new power stations (SE);
• demolitions;
VDP has carried out the following environmental studies:
• Environmental Impact Study with Non-technical Synthesis and Environmental Monitoring Plan
• Landscape Report
• Environmental Impact Screening
• Acoustic Relations
• Preliminary Geological Report
• Hydraulic and Hydrogeological Compatibility Verification Report
• Preliminary plan of use on site of the Earths and Excavation Rocks excluded from the waste discipline
SPECIFICITY OF THE STUDY
The design solution identified downstream of the analysis of alternatives and the participatory path taken from the early stages of the project, allows to connect and ensure power supply for RFI in safety, ensuring improved system resilience by integrating existing 132 kV assets into the 220 kV network, strengthening the overall electricity system and following up the territorial demands/requirements with an extensive plan to rationalise the power lines in Val di Isarco.
As part of the Framework Agreement Geology with Terna, VDP has carried out geological studies and designs with geological and geomorphological detail.
The geological study and the related field activity were carried out by the geologists of the VDP considering the requirements of D.M. 17/01/2018: “Technical Standards for Construction” which in chapter 6, paragraph 6.12 defines the geological criteria to be adopted. A campaign of on-site geological surveys was then carried out, with reference to the most complex situations, referring to what has been found in the existing literature to define the geological context, morphological and hydrogeological of the territory involved in the construction of the New Line and the new Stations.
In addition, in reference to what is indicated in the D.P.P. 10 October 2019 n 23, the Autonomous Province of Bolzano has taken steps to identify within the various municipal territories, areas at different levels with regard to Landslide Danger, Hydraulic Hazard and Avalanche Danger (Hazard Zone Plans) that have been the subject of detailed geological and geomorphological surveys by the specialized technicians of VDP against about 180 new Supports and 2 new Power Stations. At the end of the analyses carried out, specific mitigation design measures were identified for compatibility Opera - Landslide Danger, Opera - Hydraulic Hazard (Torrential Floods), Opera - Hydraulic Hazard compatibility (Debris Flows).
