PROJECT DESCRIPTION
The project of technical and economic feasibility concerns the extraurban cycling routes of priority forecast in the Biciplan Metropolitano Plan of Bari within the territory of the coastal strip and the “Conca Barese”.
The aim of the project is to make the paths, present on the national territory, with the same features between them in an international vision.
Another goal is to promote the secondary and rural road system among the municipalities concerned. The routes will also allow to interconnect the cultural and landscape attractions of greater value (parks, farms, blades, architectural and archaeological heritage, forests, etc.) networking the municipalities of Bari, Molfetta, Ruvo di Puglia, Bitetto, Valenzano, Capurso, Triggiano, Cellamare, Casamassima, Rutigliano, Conversano, Polignano a Mare.
STUDY SPECIFICATION
The project analyzed the extra-urban routes identified as priority by the Biciplan Metropolitano and were made consistent with the characteristics of the territory reusing as much as possible secondary roads, minimising the use of new areas and reducing road safety risks at intersections with significant intensity of vehicle flows. The routes identified by the Biciplan favour the route along the suburban roads, It is also possible to enjoy more of the rural landscape and at the same time to offer greater guarantees of safety to cyclists from road traffic as the speeds allowed to vehicles are more reduced.
In some cases, it was necessary to modify the route envisaged by Biciplan, as it would have involved the construction of new functional and structural works that would have been very burdensome from an economic point of view and impacting on the environmental landscape.
