EIA Preliminary Screening for the completion project regarding the construction of port facilities in the Pizzoli-Marisabella area of the Port of Bari

PROJECT DESCRIPTION

The interventions regarding the completion of Marisabella area and the extension of the Pizzoli pier are comprised in the Bari harbor basin and were designed in order to restructure the zone of the port from a spatial and functional point of view as well as to improve the accessibility conditions.
The project implementation gave way to a separation between the western port area defined by commercial activities and goods storage and handling and the eastern part defined by cruise and tourist-accommodation activities.

PROJECT CHARACTERISTICS

The environmental and infrastructural constraints due to the nature of the location and its related environment led to the development of analyses and evaluations concerning the relations between the atmosphere and noise components and the port vehicular traffic.
For what regards the landscape, the interferences between the port/urban interface system and the works proposed were determined, highlighting the inter-visibility elements and defining the criteria for the rehabilitation of the port limit, through the insertion of vegetation landscaping solutions.
