Environmental Impact Assessment of the Power Line 150 kV Calusia - Mesorca - Belcastro - Catanzaro and rationalization of the local ATI network

DESCRIPTION OF THE PROJECT

The project is part of the electrical system of the Calabria Region, affecting the area of 15 municipalities between the Provinces of Catanzaro and Crotone, for a length of about 51 km.

The aim of the project is to upgrade the existing 150 kV Calusia-Catanzaro, Calusia-Mesoraca and Mesoraca-Catanzaro power lines, providing for their refurbishment in order to promote the operational safety of the 150 kV network.

The power line consists of a single and double triad piling composed by a conductor per phase and a guard rope until reaching the portals at the station.

The northern part of the study area, in the area of the province of Crotone, is characterized by its rich cultural and archaeological heritage and by the presence of sensitive naturalistic areas, included in the Natura 2000 network, such as the ZPS site IT9320302 - Marchesato and Fiume Neto and the SIC site IT9320129 - Fiume Tacina.

SPECIFICITY OF THE STUDY

Through the application of the ERPA methodology in GIS environment, developed by Terna and shared with Ministries, Regions and Provinces, it has been possible to identify the sustainable environmental corridors (hypotheses of localization) where feasibility bands in which the route could be developed were defined .

The identification of the feasibility band of the project route was based primarily on the analysis of the constraints and protections that, with a different degree of cogency and foreclosure, are operative on the territory.
