Acoustic zoning of the Municipality of Castrovillari
PROJECT DESCRIPTION
The work consisted in the realization of the Municipal Acoustic Classification Plan pursuant to the Framework Law 447 of 26/10/1995 and its implementing decrees, as well as the law Calabria Region n. 34 of 19-10-2009 “Regulations on noise pollution for the protection of the environment in the Region of Calabria” and context criteria emerged from the phase of knowledge and referred to the particularities of the territory, town planning and noise of the Municipality of Castrovillari.
The Castrovillari city has about 22.000 residents on a territorial extension of 130 skm, corresponding to an average population density of about 169 ab/km2.
VDP has been collected some information on schools, hospitals, public parks, areas of major historical, artistic, architectural and landscape-environmental, parks, areas dedicated to carrying out temporary outdoor activities of entertainment and public entertainment, as well as data on population, tertiary, commercial, craft and industrial activities.
The results of the work have shown that the acoustic classification plan of the municipality of Castrovillari has outlined a territory with a prevalence of areas with greater protection, namely classes I, II and III, confirming that it has pursued the objectives of protecting the population from environmental noise.
In particular, VDP observes the class I area of the Pollino Park with an area of almost 34 square kilometers and, again in class I, the three hospital buildings and fifteen school buildings, mainly distributed within the city center.
The Class IV areas mainly concern the central area of the urban centre and, in line with the regional law, the areas close to the main road infrastructure

The work was also carried out with the help of a detailed phonometric campaign that saw the execution of measurements on a total of 79 stations, of which 11 continuous and relative 68 throughout the day, chosen so as to be representative of the recurring urban situations in the municipal territory under consideration.
To complete the work, the Implementing Technical Standards were drawn up.
