Environmental and Social Impact Assessments aimed at the construction and improvement of the railway stations and related infrastructures in the Metropolitan Region of Nairobi, Kenya
PROJECT DESCRIPTION
In 2014, the Joint Venture formed by SGS Kenya and VDP won the tender for a framework contract concerning the development of Environmental and Social Impact Assessments (ESIA) for projects financed by the World Bank.
The projects involve different infrastructures and services such as railway stations, markets, county roads and a landfill. During 2016 VDP developed the following projects:
- ESIA review of the Kangundo-Tala Road project;
- ESIA of the Kikuyu Railway Station;
- ESIA of the Athi River Railway Station;
- ESIA of the Pipeline Railway Station;
- ESIA of the Ruiru Railway Station;
- ESIA of the Donholm Railway Station;
- ESIA of the Embakasi Railway Station;
- ESIA of the Mwiki Railway Station;
- ESIA of the Dandora Railway Station;
- ESIA of the Githurai Railway Station;
- ESIA of the Kahawa Railway Station.
These environmental studies were conducted taking into account the requirements of the World Bank regarding this typology of projects.
