Preliminary activities for the Acoustic Recovery Plan of Cagliari urban area
PROJECT DESCRIPTION
The work entailed the execution of a series of specific activities in the environmental acoustic sector focused on restoration interventions. The project was conducted in the context of the national 1989/91 DISIA PTTA program which had restoration actions as its final goal.
The following activities were carried out:
- Preliminary acoustic classification of the urban area of Cagliari;
- Implementation of a database to organize and record acoustic measurements collected previously;
- Selection and implementation of an acoustic simulation model;
- 24 h sound level measurements;
- Application of the selected simulation model;
- Executive design of the acoustic monitoring center;
- Drafting of Guidelines for Municipal Acoustic Classification Plans;
- Preparation of Guidelines for Municipal Acoustic Recovery Plans;
- Definition and project of emergency remediation interventions.
The project involved 10 municipalities in the Cagliari urban area: Cagliari, Quartu S. Elena, Quartuccio, Maracalagonis, Settimo S. Pietro, Selargius, Monserrato, Sestu, Elmas and Assemini.
Overall, a total area of 547 square kilometers was studied, with a population of over 359000 inhabitants, concentrated mainly in the municipalities of Cagliari and Quartu S. Elena, representing over 62% of the total.
The average housing density was generally low, exceeding 10 inhabitants / hectare only in the cases of Cagliari, Selargius and Monserrato.
