Municipal acoustic classification plan, Acoustic remediation plan and Pilot project for the Municipality of L'Aquila

DESCRIPTION OF THE PROJECT
The activities concerned the realization of a number of specific activities in the acoustic field aimed at the development of Municipal noise abatement plan:
• acoustic analysis of the municipal area
• Preliminary acoustic zoning of the city of L’Aquila;
• measurement campaign of noise levels;
• definitive acoustic zoning with 75 drawings;
• Municipal noise abatement plan;
• Executive design of pilot intervention;
• Municipal Regulation for noise pollution protection.

The municipality of L’Aquila is the 3rd largest Municipality in Italy with 467 square kilometer, with large part in mountain areas.
These features led to a division of the territory with a clear attention to sensitive areas, that is, classified in the most protected areas (acoustic classes 1 and 2) . These areas cover the 78% of the total municipal extension.
The population of nearly 70,000 inhabitants is distributed quite homogeneously in classes 2 and 3 (about 40% in each class), and to a lesser extent in Class 4.
