Environmental Impact Study concerning interventions in the final project of redevelopment of A14 highway and bypass of Bologna

DESCRIPTION OF THE PROJECT

The work represents an objective of national and international interest as bypass road system. It represents an axis for the north-south traffic. The Bologna bypass road system collects traffic flows from the northwestern area of Italy (A1 highway coming from Milan), from Brenner (Austria) and from the eastern sector (Padua, Venice and Treviso). It also collects traffic from the A14 (Adriatic Highway) and the A1 (Florence-Rome-Naples). The main action consists in the construction of the third lane of the motorway. In order to obtain an effective enhancement of the ring road, the project provides for the adjustment of the existing interchanges.

SPECIFICITY OF THE STUDY

Analysis have been carried out to characterize the various environmental components involved. The environmental actions in the context of the infrastructure aim at creating a real “green corridor”, that could also be enjoyed by population. Simulations for air, noise, vibration and soil have been developed, taking care of the pollutants in the soil. The theme of the collection and treatment of platform water was explored.
