Measurement of noise levels generated by pressure reducing and compressor stations of Snam network (Central and South Italy)

PROJECT DESCRIPTION

Pressure reducing stations are placed along the distribution network system with the aim of setting the gas pressure at levels suitable for the use.
Compressor stations are facilities located alongside natural gas pipelines and make possible for the gas itself to travel through the network.
The activity consists in the detection of the noise scattered from the stations nearby the pollution sources and on the receptors placed in the surrounding areas. In particular measurements of the noise levels generated by pressure reducing and compressor stations managed by Romana Gas were carried out in Southern Italy.

The objective of the study is to obtain relevant information about the actual noise emission levels in order to compare them with the thresholds set by legislation (DPCM of March, 1991).
