Air Quality Monitoring - Latina Nuclear Power Plant Latina - Lazio

Air Quality Monitoring by dedicated station at Latina Nuclear Power Plant

PROJECT DESCRIPTION

In 2011, the decommissioning of pipelines above the primary circuit of the system was completed. In September 2011, after just 40 days, demolition of the central landing stage was completed. The work included the removal of the beams followed by the cutting of the landing stage, a concrete structure 750 metres long. The demolition of the landing stage helped to give the coast a cleaner sea and gave back the use of the coast and the sea area in front of the nuclear plant to population.

In October 2011 a decree was issued for Environmental Compatibility (EIA) and for the environmental remediation of the plant, with joint authorisation from the Ministry for the Environment Land and Sea and the Ministry for Cultural Assets and Activities. Within the Commissioning activities, VDP carried out the assessment of air pollutants present in the interested areas.

PROJECT CHARACTERISTICS

VDP operates a comprehensive network of environmental supervision and monitoring, with continuous and planned controls of the air quality, in the interested area near to the power plant. The environmental monitoring networks were established in the four macro-areas indicated by SOGIN based on the outputs of the Atmospheric dispersion modelling, the mathematical simulation of air pollutants dispersion in the atmosphere.
