PROJECT DESCRIPTION
The preliminary project design of the Integrated Interchange Junction “Pratone delle Valli” is part of the B1 line extension of the Rome Underground system. The project involves the construction of an underground parking; an interchange station with bus lines; an underground square with multi-purpose areas and a connection to the Conca d’Oro Station, all in the peripheral zone “Pratone delle Valli”. The planned infrastructure provides an important connection of the two banks of the Aniene River through a pedestrian and bike bridge, allowing the creation of a system involving the two bike lanes already located on the opposite sides of the river.
PROJECT CHARACTERISTICS
The study permitted the determination of a relation between the design solutions and the environmental requirements, leading to the definition of the environmental impacts related to the project and to a proper work inclusion in the surrounding landscape. The parking and depot areas, the station finishes and furnishing and the vegetation landscaping solutions were defined according to environmental sustainability criteria.
On one side the landscape study focused on the morpho-functional analysis of the connective urban fabric; on the other hand the reconstruction of the visibility relation between the work and the surrounding landscape, the perceptual conditions and the analysis of the visual sequences were examined.
In particular the study focused on the following subjects:
