PROJECT DESCRIPTION
As part of the final design of the tram connection between the new Lodi Metro C Station and the tram line 3 in Rome, the work involved the analysis of the most relevant environmental issues comprising of territorial planning and programming.
The intervention context is located on a margin area of the city historical center among Piazzale Appio, to the west, Lodi Square to the east, Piazzale Labicano to the north and Taranto Road to the south.
The project envisages the creation of a definitive tram infrastructure on La Spezia Road in the section between Nola and Orvieto roads, just where the new Lodi Metro C stop is situated. Its aim is to ensure the continuity of the public transport service to metro C commuters, to and from Rome central area.
The environmental analyses show that the rationalization of the road network and, consequently, of the related mobility, brings indirect positive effects, both in terms of road safety and in terms of other benefits (often called externalities) decreasing, considerably, gaseous pollutant and sound emissions in the atmosphere.
It is also important to point out that the project optimized and rationalized pedestrian mobility, with great attention to users with reduced mobility or visual impairment:
