Alemagna Main Road (SS51)

PROJECT DESCRIPTION

The work was aimed at developing photo simulations related to the construction of an alternative section of Alemagna Main Road (SS51) and its connection to “Dolomites” Main Road (SS48). The section will be an important road and runs close to the municipality of Cortina d’Ampezzo, which is also crossed by SS51 and SS48. It will also allow the reduction of  traffic congestion due to the crossing flows, resulting in significant improvement of air quality and noise pollution; effects extremely relevant for the tourism industry and service sector, the principal economic resources of the area.

PROJECT CHARACTERISTICS

The study involved the elaboration of photo simulations including:

• Updated layout of tunnel entrances comprising of morphological modeling;
• Longitudinal profiles of viaducts;
• Typology of viaducts with particular reference to deck, piers and abutments;
• Location and typology of mitigation interventions;
• Cortina d’Ampezzo roundabout;
• Example regarding the mechanically stabilized earth of the roundabout wall;
• SS58 tunnel link;
• Typology of wooden guard rails.
