Noise Recovery and Mitigation Plan for several Municipalities along A24 and A25 highways
The activity concerns the Renovation Plan and abatement of noise levels of the Highway A24 and A25 “Strada dei Parchi”, based on Environmental Ministry Decree of 29/11/2000, “Criteria for the establishment, by the companies and Mqanagers of public transport services or related infrastructure, of interventions for containment and noise abatement. ” The plan covers a number of municipalities (35) located along the two roads.
SPECIFICITY OF THE STUDY
To carry out the acoustic study, it was first examined the relevant legislation both at national and local level (presence or absence of acoustic zoning). Inspections have also been performed to identify in detail the areas affected and make a census of the receptors overlooking the highway.
At a second stage, a campaign of noise measurements has been completed, aimed at the characterization of acoustic pre-construction conditions, noise traffic characterization and verification of the acoustic simulation model Mithra. The assignment of values to the parameters of the model itself has been performed, in order to ensure a correct representation of the acoustic phenomenon in the concerned area .
The future scenario, composed by a 3D representation of the territory, by the highway infrastructure, by vehicular traffic and by the receptors, has been included in the acoustic simulation model, thereby obtaining a representation of the future noise conditions, rated in terms of sound level in different areas of surveyed receptors in different daytime (6:00 am to 10:00 pm) and night (10:00 pm to 6:00 am) intervals .
The highway and its traffic, modified according to the provisional data available, have been integrated in the simulation model. The necessary results for the analysis of the future acoustic climate of the area have been obtained, verifying their compatibility with the provisions of current regulations, eventually by the adoption of mitigation measures.
Finally, as prescribed by the Ministerial Decree 29.11.2000, the priority index for the analyzed area has been calculated, taking into account the noise levels reached and the number of people involved.
For each Municipality examined, the following documents have been developed:
• Report with attached the output of simulations and the calculation of the priorities related to each municipality,
• General Chorography
• Excerpt of the Municipal Noise Zoning
• Excerpt of the Municipal Urban Plan
• General plan of receptors and measuring points,
• Plan of Intervention,
• Acoustic measurements and photographic documentation.
