Environmental Impact Assessment regarding the modernization project of Flaminio Metro Station

PROJECT DESCRIPTION

The intervention on Flaminio Metro Station strengthens the role of integrated exchange node between the stations of the underground line A and of the new railway Roma Nord. The station is located near Piazza Flaminio and falls within the perimeter of the park of Villa Borghese.

PROJECT CHARACTERISTICS

The main environmental issues concerned the construction phase, considering the increase of concentration of airborne dusts, the increase of the pollutants produced by the combustion of the fuel used by working site vehicles, as well as the noise produced by the same.

The incidence analysis developed had the purpose of identifying and evaluating the environmental effects on animals, plants and Habitats of Community interest belonging to the SCI “Villa Borghese and Villa Pamphili”. The surveys and analysis performed highlighted the botanical valuable elements, the critical issues and sensitivities, identifying situations of decay affecting the area and the main types of mitigation actions for the protection of the arboreal-shrubby elements within the working site and for the recovery through the implementation of green works designed according to naturalistic ecological and landscaping criteria.
