PROJECT DESCRIPTION
The study aims to design noise reduction interventions for Milan Western Ring Road in A50-7 Area of the town of Rozzano. This is an area subjected to the Noise Mitigation Plan of the company Milano Serravalle – Milano Tangenziali S.p.A. The acoustic project was also extended to two neighbouring areas (A50-5 and A50-9) that might be affected by the noise.
PROJECT CHARACTERISTICS
The interventions were designed in the preliminary and final stages of the detailed acoustic study. The noise levels were estimated through specific software simulations and verified on the receptors placed along the motorway. Approximately 1,210 meters of noise barriers with an average height of about 3.7 meters were deemed necessary, corresponding to an area of 4,500 square meters.
The detailed design took into account the legislation on road safety and traffic, as well as the generic criteria of design and technical constructions. It also covered the positioning and implementation of the interventions considering every technical aspect and involving all the project phases.
The noise barrier design followed engineering principles regarding the geometric features of the barrier tracking axis (plano-altimetric orientation), the geotechnical characteristics of the foundation and the structural elements of the barrier. This was completed with the assistance of a celerimetric survey involving the whole barrier length and a geognostic survey concerning five stations.
The highway section mostly presents an average height of about 8.10 meters and includes a crossing viaduct on the Pavese Canal, two ramps (exit and entrance) on SS35 main road nearby Rozzano and a local road bridge. In addition, a connection to the existing noise barrier system is planned.
The final and the detailed technical design and the safety management system were performed according to the law provisions.
