PROJECT DESCRIPTION
The study focuses on the design of noise mitigation measures concerning areas “subject to noise reduction interventions” in the context of the related 2005 – 2007 management plan of Milano Serravalle – Milano Tangenziali S.p.A..
The design regarded the following areas:
PROJECT CHARACTERISTICS
The final acoustic studies were arranged in field and post-processing activities.
Phonometric investigations were carried out in order to define the environmental characteristics of the areas surrounding the road infrastructures as well as potential different noise sources.
Acoustic analyses were conducted in compliance with regulations and took into consideration detailed and properly calibrated simulation models.
Several hypotheses regarding the distribution and height of the mitigation measures were considered both in the actual (2009) and medium term (2015) traffic scenario, whether with the presence of sound-absorbing asphalt or not.
The design of mitigation measures, able to guarantee the compliance with the normative limits concerning the external area of buildings located in the relevant acoustic zones (with the exception of two situated outside), was the primary aim of the study.
When this was not possible, the second objective focused on the compliance with the internal limits as required by law. As a precautionary measure, the sound insulation of the window frames was believed to be equal to 20 dB.
Subsequently, this hypothesis was confirmed by specific sound-level investigations.
