Pre-Feasibility Study and Environmental Impact Study concerning "Master Plan 2022" of Bari - Palese Airport

PROJECT DESCRIPTION

Bari Airport activities started with a preliminary study of EIA procedure for the new airport development plan to 2020 for Bari “Karol Wojtyla” airport, set as environmental feasibility study.

Subsequently, the effective environmental impact study of the proposed Master Plan updated to 2022 has been developed.
The development of low-cost traffic and, in general, of movements in the airport of Bari, have determined the need to review traffic forecasts of the airport. This is one of the main reasons of the update of the Airport Development Plan (Master Plan) which has been redefined based on 2022 scenario.

The Master Plan has been prepared in accordance with the “Guidelines for the preparation of Airport development plans” (ENAC), taking into account general urban analysis according to General Plan of Transport, landscape and environmental constraints, relations with connecting infrastructure in the country and the description of constraints.

PROJECT CHARACTERISTICS

The main objective of the Master Plan is to create conditions to meet the growing demand for air transport of the airport and the entire Apulian airport system pursuing the principles of environmental protection. In this context, the objectives are complementary: - Increase the level of airport services facilities; - Develop non-aviation activities; - Streamline the functional structure of the airport system; - Improve the environmental performance of airport system; - Strengthen the environmental system;

The infrastructural projects are: - Expansion of the airport infrastructure that needs to be appropriate to the air-side capacity and the increase in air traffic expected; - Improving the services offered by the new passenger terminal of Bari; - Extension of the airport to areas of the Air Force; - Extension of the Bari airport; - Cargo area development.

SPECIFICITY OF THE PROJECT

The criteria used to identify the intended use of the new areas deemed necessary for the proper development of the airport, are as follows:
- Mitigate the noise and environmental pollution
- Constrain the territory with a buffer zone across the border Airport, to avoid urban settlements incompatible with airport activity and the resulting aeronautical restriction;
- Provide an adequate development of the flight infrastructure, passenger zones and cargo terminals;
- Ensure territorial contiguity of the land binding for future settlements airport;
- Ensure a separation between passenger and cargo airport activity

Description of Actual Services Provided by the Firm: ● Design amendment ● Acoustic Design ● Analysis of intervisibility ● Analysis of vegetation elements existing within the airport ● Design of landscape and environmental insertion ● Environmental monitoring plan aimed at controlling noise pollution during ante and post-construction ● Archaeological study
● Landscape Report.
